The Origin of Coffee Connoisseur
Coffee Connoisseur started with a Discord server.
In 2022, as digital assets and Web3 were moving rapidly from niche conversations into professional services, I launched the Professional Services and the Decentralized Web3 Discussion Forum. The idea was simple: create a place where accountants, attorneys, and other professionals could learn from one another as they navigated crypto, digital assets, NFTs, decentralized technologies, and the regulatory questions emerging around them.
I wanted the community to be thoughtful, practical, and collaborative—a place to discuss market developments, academic research, tax and regulatory updates, enterprise applications, and new technologies without the hype that often surrounded Web3 at the time.
And because so many of the conversations happened with a cup of coffee nearby, I showed up as Coffee Connoisseur.
What started as a Discord username eventually became something more representative of how I like to work: coffee, curiosity, research, and conversation.
Four years later, the subject matter has expanded well beyond Web3. I now spend my time thinking about strategy, financial services, digital assets, emerging technology, market structure, business models, and the forces reshaping institutions.
Coffee & Counsel Insights is the evolution of that original community. It is a place to examine those ideas with the same philosophy that started it all: stay curious, follow the evidence, ask better questions, and make complex subjects useful.
Coffee Connoisseur stuck. So did the coffee.
I hope you’ll explore the insights, follow along as new ideas are published, and reach out anytime a piece sparks a question or conversation.
Sincerely,
Coffee Connoisseur
